Product-minded Software Engineer

SDE-II at Karbon Business. I design event-driven backend systems and LLM-powered automation for financial products — and own them from idea to production.

About

How I work

I'm a backend-focused engineer who works best with full ownership: start from the user's problem, design the data model and APIs, ship, and iterate on real feedback. I've carried that across fintech systems at Karbon, university products, and freelance client work.

Product thinking

Every project below exists because someone had a painful manual process worth automating — the tech follows the problem.

End-to-end ownership

Data models, APIs, UI, release, and iteration — the full lifecycle, solo and in teams.

Shipped, not shelved

I measure work by what runs in production and who depends on it, not by what's in the backlog.

Experience

Where I've worked

  1. Software Development Engineer – II · Karbon Business

    Jul 2026 – Present

    Bangalore, India

    • Own the AI service's event-processing platform — roadmap, design direction, and reliability standards as new event types and consumer services onboard.
    • Lead design and code reviews for event-driven services across the accounting and billing stack.
    • Mentor engineers on agentic patterns and fault-tolerant service design.
  2. Software Development Engineer – I · Karbon Business

    Jan 2025 – Jun 2026

    Bangalore, India

    • Architected an extensible, fault-tolerant event-routing framework in the AI service with a dequeue-based recovery system — automatic reprocessing of failed events and exactly-once consumption across distributed microservices.
    • Owned the Dashboard APIs (Django + PostgreSQL) end-to-end; caching, pagination, and N+1 elimination cut response latency by 60% under production traffic.
    • Built agentic workflows with the OpenAI Agent SDK + LangGraph to extract and reconcile bank transactions, with a secondary AI fallback route for non-reconcilable cases.
    • Improved credit-card statement extraction accuracy by 70% through prompt and context engineering with Anthropic Claude, deployed in production-scale FastAPI pipelines.
    • Designed a high-throughput Tally accounting sync — a Flutter Windows client syncing with backend REST APIs every 10s, moving 500 MB in under 30s for near-real-time books.
    • Ran core accounting, billing, and transaction microservices (Django + FastAPI) at under 1% runtime error rate, with GitHub Actions CI/CD and AWS-based monitoring and orchestration (SQS, EventBridge, CloudWatch).
  3. Full-stack Intern · Karbon Business

    Jul 2024 – Dec 2024

    Bangalore, India

    • Prototyped agentic workflows and Model Context Protocol (MCP) pipelines as alternatives to traditional GenAI implementations.
    • Designed evaluation metrics and testing frameworks to benchmark accuracy, latency, and reliability of LLM-powered solutions.
    • Built a production-ready POC classifying invoices, bills, bank statements, and credit-card statements using Microsoft Graph APIs.
    • Added unit and integration test coverage across services, uncovering critical edge cases before deployment.

Projects I've shipped

CU Report Rover

Automated event-report generator for CHRIST (Deemed to be University).

Faculty spent hours hand-assembling event reports in a fixed institutional format. Report Rover turns event details and photos into a compliant, ready-to-submit report in minutes.

Impact Adopted for department event reporting at CHRIST University; recognised with a formal appreciation from the Vice Chancellor.

EventQuest

Activity forum for the Computer Science department of CHRIST (Deemed to be University).

Department events, announcements, and participation lived in scattered notices and chats. EventQuest centralised them into one app for students and faculty.

Impact Granted a software copyright by the Copyright Office, Government of India (Aug 2024).

ResQAid

Natural-disaster detection, awareness, and SOS alert app.

In a disaster, people need alerts and a one-tap way to call for help. ResQAid detects disaster conditions and sends alerts and SOS messages to contacts.

Impact Built under hackathon constraints end-to-end — detection logic, alerting, and mobile UI.

Technozia

College-fest registration portal for Presidency College, with role-based flows for admins, core team, members, and participants.

Fest registrations ran on forms and spreadsheets. Technozia gave each role — organiser to participant — its own flow, from event setup to registration.

Impact Ran registrations for the Computantra IT fest across four user roles.

Abisiniya Tours & Travels

Freelance client work

Booking platform for affordable air tickets, holiday homes, and car rentals.

A travel business needed a single product covering flights, stays, and car rentals.

Impact Scoped, built, and delivered to a paying client as a solo engineer — requirements to release.
